Is there an aesthetic tradition of journalism, and how is it different from other traditions? Are creativity and information, fiction and non-fiction, closer than they have ever been? Is contemporary art just another form of communication?

This panel discussion explores the limits, encounters, disagreements and potentials of art and journalism, and discusses each field’s inherited conventions about truth, knowledge and ethics, amongst others.

Confirmed speakers include the artist, curator and writer Alfredo Cramerotti, author of Aesthetic Journalism: How to Inform without Informing; photographer and journalist Laura El-Tantawy, shortlisted for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2016; acclaimed artists Peter Kennard and Cat Phillipps; and the journalist and counterterrorist investigator Crofton Black, co-author of Negative Publicity: Artefacts of Extraordinary Rendition.

The event is followed by a drinks reception 6-8pm plus a live sound performance by Graham Massey.
